Indigenous Recognition

The EAP believe that full and equal recognition of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is required within the Australian Constitution.

To this end the EAP propose implementing the recommendations of the Joint Select Committee on Constitutional Recognition relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples (Final Report – Nov 2018).

This is an opportunity for all Australian citizens to acknowledge the first chapter of our Nation’s story, and to forge a stronger, united future together, with policies and programmes developed to ensure that the voice of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders is appointed its place in the Constitution, and that it is heard and acknowledged, and that the importance of both the history and the future of our nations indigenous cultures are recognised, preserved, developed, and nurtured.
